Eco Club meets once a week to think about how we can save energy, reduce waste and protect our natural environment. This year we have organised litter picks, we have made pieces of environmental art and we have carried out an Eco Schools audit.

We were very proud to receive the KM Green School Award for Best Environmental School. Four members of Eco Club attended the awards ceremony in Canterbury on 8th February, accompanied by Mrs Roberts.

We won the award for our food composting scheme. In term 1, Eco Club introduced food waste bins for fruit and vegetable waste and have encouraged staff and children to use them. Mr Hill the caretaker built a compost bin made of pallets and Eco Club members take turns to empty the bins.

It's a messy job and we sometimes forget to empty the bins but it is very satisfying to see our compost bin fill up with waste that would have gone to landfill.
